Why the Fossil Gen 6 didn’t convince me to switch away from my Apple Watch

When I tested the new Gen 6 fossil smartwatch, I was surprised by using the OS been calcified into a fairly recommended software platform that really didn’t convince me to stay away from my iOS ecosystem. I’m not saying Apple’s watch is for everyone, but still feels like the best choice out there, and I’m not sure to switch.

Unfortunately, my opinion was mostly affected by odd odd territorials and telephone operating systems: Apple Watches only worked with the iPhone, while the latest Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 only functions with Android (Bucking trend of its predecessor multi-OS compatibility). The watch that supports the cellular operating system, however, is stuck using OS 2.0, which has not been increased for years.

This is an unfavorable reality, and who forces consumers to choose their exclusive ecosystem in an unnecessary way when they are embarrassing retrograde. Never been cool for Apple to keep Apple Watch compatibility solely with iOS devices, even though we can reluctantly understand how much smoother, you can interact with focusing only on your in-house operating system. But locking the Galaxy Watch 4 of the iOS feels like a loss, especially because it prevents OS new use 3 from go toe-toe with watchos.

Fossil Gen 6 is a compromise that works with Android and iOS devices, but unfortunately, it will not be upgraded to use OS 3 to 2022. Meanwhile, the prospective buyer is trapped in the limbo dealing with current use OS 2.0, which does not have a big improvement for many years -The year, while they wait for new features and integration with Android 12 (such as Watch Face that matches your cellphone color palette through your material).

All fossil speed Gen 6 through the Snapdragon Wear 4100 plus wasted chipset on an aging interface – a smooth transition only switches between several basic default-by-default applications. I also have to manually reconnect the watch to my iPhone based on a rather frequent, a condition that might not extend to an Android phone. And it’s not like switching to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is a good alternative – I really have to switch the telephone operating system, which is easy to do as a reviewer but it’s hard to ask most consumers, especially because some features can only be accessed if you have a Samsung cellphone.

My Apple Watch remains until I have a good reason to switch

And really, what I debated here is not about what you can buy – I talk about inertia, and that there is no reason to switch from the settings that work because watching evolution look more glacial than on the phone. In general, SmartWatches did not get large new features in 2021, and years before just adding blood oxygen measurements through SPO2 sensors, following the entire ECG adoption in 2019 – which is an important feature for users specifically concerning sleep apnea or cardiac arrhythmias, but not too useful for most people.

Instead, what makes me use Apple Watch 5 is inertia, and lack of interesting reasons to be improved, let alone jump to Wear OS Watch. What will be taken? Constant connection that is the same as my cellphone, for beginners, but also some other benefits of seamless integration, as intuitively adopt the same focus mode as the iPhone I set to (or at least happens don’t disturb), integrating my calendar appointment, and sharing Simple tasks such as timers. Having an application to work as a shutter button for cellphone cameras is the type of touch I’m talking about.

It’s embarrassing, because I really think fossil Gen 6 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is the most famous smartwatches that you can buy – they have panache from traditional watch designs that are not on bulbous, Apple Watch.
